Ferrous Metal Extractor

Automatic magnetic separation.

Magnetic separators remove ferrous contaminants from the shredded material flow — nails, screws, wires, steel fragments, and hardware. Removal protects downstream equipment, increases final product purity, and enables the sale of the metal fraction as a by-product.

Equipment types

Overband magnetic separator (suspended electromagnet): installed transversely above the conveyor, it continuously attracts and removes ferrous contaminants via coil-generated magnetic field. Suited for flows with high ferrous concentration and bulky pieces.

Magnetic drum: the conveyor head drum is magnetized with permanent magnets. Non-magnetic material falls by gravity; ferrous material remains adhered until the separation point. A compact, low-maintenance solution.

Magnetic pulley: replaces the existing conveyor head pulley. Same principle as the drum, without additional equipment. Ideal for retrofitting existing lines.

Selection criteria

Magnetic field intensity, conveyor width, belt speed, material bed depth, and ferrous particle size determine the proper configuration.

There is no universal solution. The ideal configuration comes from field experience — adjusting installation height, speed, and discharge point until achieving the required extraction rate without dragging useful material.

Jaguar Industrial specifies and integrates magnetic separators into processing lines based on this practical experience.
